    III. Non -EOC Courses
    For non-EOC high school courses, students must take a local examination developed or selected by the district or school. Examinations shall be based upon the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for these courses and should be cumulative in nature where a qualifying score demonstrates mastery of the entire course. The number of questions included on the exam for each standard should be representative of the standard’s relative weight within the course. NC Final Exams that are available in on-line format will be used for Phase I of non-EOC courses.

    For EOC, CTE, and non-EOC courses, re-testing is not permitted. Students attempting CDM receive one opportunity per course to achieve the minimum standards to earn CDM.

    As part of this process, a School-level CDM Review Panel will make a recommendation of whether to award credit or not based on student demonstration of the criteria stated above. This decision will be based on (1) a minimum required score as set by the state on the Phase I assessment and (2) a superior rating on Phase II artifacts. If the CDM review panel does not award CDM for a course, and a student and his/her parent(s) do not agree with the decision of the School CDM Review Panel, they may file an appeal.
    These are the guidelines for the appeals process:
    Phase I EOC,CTE post assessment, and Non-EOC (local final exam)EOC/EOG test scores are not appealable.
    Students and their parents should submit appeals
    Scores within ten daysone standard error of receiving notification that an attempt for CDM wasmeasurement are not successful.qualifying scores.
    Appeals shouldmust be received in writing addressed to the school principal. This appeal should include reasoning for appeal and the datewithin ten days of submission.
